Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how NovaSmic Pty Ltd ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and stores information when you use the WreckLog mobile application and web application (collectively, "the App"). By using WreckLog you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

• Email address (when you create an account)
• Authentication credentials managed via Firebase Authentication (Google)
• Pro subscription status

• Vehicle details (make, model, year, VIN, colour, odometer, purchase price, notes)
• Parts inventory (name, category, condition, location, pricing, sale records)
• Listing links and platform URLs you add to parts

• Photos you attach to vehicles or parts are stored locally on your device
• If you are signed in, photos are also uploaded to Firebase Storage (Google Cloud) to enable cross-device access via the web app

• Anonymous usage events (e.g. vehicle created, part added, first sale) collected via Firebase Analytics
• Anonymous install attribution via Facebook App Events (used for advertising measurement only)
• Crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics to help us fix bugs

2. How Your Data Is Stored and Synced

WreckLog is a local-first app. All data is stored on your device and the app works fully offline without an account.

When you sign in, your data is also securely synced to Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Storage) so you can:

• Access your inventory from the WreckLog web app at app.wrecklog.com.au
• Keep data in sync across multiple devices in real time
• Restore your data if you change devices

Cloud data is stored in Google's Firebase infrastructure and is protected by access controls that ensure each user can only access their own data.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, operate, and improve the App
• To sync your inventory data across your devices
• To store and serve photos you attach to vehicles and parts
• To verify and manage your Pro subscription status
• To analyse anonymous usage patterns and fix crashes
• To measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns (anonymous, aggregated only)

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your inventory data for advertising purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

WreckLog uses the following third-party services, each subject to their own privacy policies:

• Firebase Authentication — account management
• Cloud Firestore — inventory data sync
• Firebase Storage — photo storage and delivery
• Firebase Analytics — anonymous usage analytics
• Firebase Crashlytics — crash reporting

5. Your Data Rights and Controls

• You may use the App without creating an account — no data leaves your device
• You may sign out at any time, which stops cloud sync
• You may delete your local data from within the App (Settings → Wipe All Data)
• To request deletion of your cloud data (Firestore and Storage), contact us at wrecklog.app@gmail.com and we will delete your account data within 30 days

6. Data Retention

Your cloud data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, all associated Firestore records and uploaded photos will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

Anonymous analytics data (Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics) is retained according to Google's standard retention schedules and cannot be individually identified or deleted.

7. Data Security

We use Google Firebase's security infrastructure to protect your data, including:

• Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
• Firestore security rules that prevent users from accessing each other's data
• Firebase Storage rules that restrict photo access to authenticated account owners

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Advertising

WreckLog does not display third-party advertisements within the App. We use Facebook App Events solely for measuring the effectiveness of our own user acquisition campaigns. This data is aggregated and anonymous — it does not include your vehicle or parts inventory.

9. Children's Privacy

WreckLog is not intended for use by children under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
