WreckLog › Wrecking yard software

Wrecking yard software for small and mid-size yards

📱 iPhone, iPad & Android app 🖥️ Desktop app in the browser 📡 Works offline in the yard

Most wrecking yard software is built for the big operators: multi-site, interchange databases, a training course and a contract, and it lives on a terminal in the office. WreckLog is the other kind. It's a proper app on the phone or iPad you carry around the yard, plus a desktop app for the office, sharing one account. Built by a working wrecker for yards from one car in the driveway to a few hundred, it does the six things a yard actually needs and leaves the rest alone. Free to start, no card.

What wrecking yard software has to do

Call it a wrecking yard, a salvage yard, a junkyard or an auto dismantler, the job is the same. Strip away the brochures and a yard needs software for six things. If a system doesn't do all six, you end up with a whiteboard, a notebook and a shoebox of eBay printouts doing the rest.

The thread through all six is vehicle-to-part traceability: every part on the shelf tied to the car it came off, so you can answer "which car did this come from, and what did that car make us?" without digging. WreckLog does that by design, with a stock number on the car, a stock ID on every part and a QR label that opens the part's record from any phone.

1. Log the car

Make, model, year, what you paid. A stock number so every part can be traced back to it.

2. Stock the parts

Each part with its own stock ID, photos, condition, price and a shelf or bay location you can actually find.

3. Sell them

eBay, your own online shop, the phone, the counter. The same stock in every channel without re-typing.

4. Get them out the door

A picking slip for the yard, dispatch for posted parts, pickups for the ones being collected.

5. Hand the numbers over

Sales and car purchases into whatever accounting software you already run, or a tax invoice if you don't run one yet.

6. Know what each car made

Cost price against everything sold off it, so you buy the next one smarter.

How WreckLog does it

WreckLog follows the car through the yard. The phone is for the yard, the desktop is for the office, and they share one account that syncs in both directions.

  1. Add the car. Make, model, year, purchase price. It gets a stock number automatically (W1, W2 and so on, or your own prefix) and starts as Whole, which shows on your shop page as "coming soon".
  2. Strip it with the WreckLog app on your phone or iPad. Every part you pull gets its own stock ID, photos from the phone camera, a condition, a price and a location. Works with no signal and syncs later. Print QR labels so any phone can scan a part straight to its record.
  3. It goes on sale by itself. Each part you mark ready appears on your free My Shop page. Connect eBay once and any part lists in one click with your postage policies applied. Sold eBay orders land in your dispatch queue with the buyer's details.
  4. Phone and counter sales. Someone rings for a gearbox: raise a sale order, pick the customer (or add them with a name and number), add the parts, take a deposit if you want one. The yard gets a picking slip, the customer gets the document.
  5. Dispatch and pickups. Posted parts queue for dispatch with tracking. Collected parts sit under Pickups with a date and time so nothing gets forgotten on the bench.
  6. Accounting files, not bookkeeping. Every sale lands in a file your accounting software imports, and cars you bought export as bills. Each file only ever sends a sale once. If you don't run an accounting package yet, turn on tax invoices and WreckLog issues a GST or VAT invoice as a PDF from the sale order, with your bank details on it and a paid tick when the money arrives.
  7. Profit per car. What you paid against what every part sold for, on the car itself. That number is the one that makes the next auction bid better.

Who it's for, and who it isn't

It's for you if

It probably isn't if

Phone in the yard, desktop in the office

The WreckLog app (iPhone, iPad and Android) is for the dirty work: log the car, photograph parts as they come off, scan a QR label to mark something sold. It keeps everything on the device, so a dead spot behind the sheds doesn't stop you.

The desktop app at app.wrecklog.com.au is for the office: pricing, listing status, eBay, labels, sale orders, dispatch, customers and the accounting files. Same account, same data, nothing to install.

Questions yards ask

What does wrecking yard software do?

It tracks every car you buy and every part you pull off it: a stock number for the car, a stock ID, photos, price and shelf location for each part, and a record of where and when each part sold. Good wrecking yard software also lists parts for sale (eBay, your own shop page, phone and counter orders), handles dispatch and pickups, and hands the sales figures to your accounting software.

Is WreckLog suitable for a small wrecking yard?

Yes. It was built by a working wrecker for yards from one car in the driveway up to about 300 cars. It's free to start with one vehicle and five parts, and paid plans run from A$4.99 to A$99.99 a month depending on how many cars you carry.

Does WreckLog list parts on eBay?

Yes. Connect your eBay account once and any part can be listed in one click with the title, photos, price and your postage policies filled in. Sold eBay orders drop into your dispatch queue automatically with the buyer's details.

Does it work offline in the yard?

Yes. The phone app stores everything on the device, so you can log cars and photograph parts with no signal and it syncs when you're back in range. The desktop version is for pricing, listing, sale orders and the accounting files.

Does WreckLog do invoicing and bookkeeping?

It gives you the documents, not the books. Every sale lands in a file your accounting software imports (the major Australian, UK and NZ packages are all covered), and car purchases export as bills. If you don't run an accounting package yet, WreckLog can issue GST or VAT tax invoices as PDFs straight from the sale order and track what's paid and outstanding.

Can I use WreckLog outside Australia?

Yes. It runs in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, Canada and the US, with plans priced in local currency, VAT or GST on tax invoices, and eBay listing to the UK, Canadian and Australian marketplaces.

How is it different from enterprise dismantler systems?

Enterprise systems are built for large multi-site operations with interchange databases, trade networks and multi-year contracts, and are priced accordingly. WreckLog is the simple version for an owner-operator or a small crew: phone in the yard, desktop in the office, no training course, no lock-in, and plans that start free.

How long does it take to set up?

Minutes. Sign up on the web, download the phone app, add your first car and start pulling parts. Stock numbers are assigned automatically, and there's nothing to import unless you want to bring existing stock across.
